Got CPA

I finally finally finally got my CPA license… well, I got approval to get my license actually. When I went through my mail I got a packet from my state’s Board of Accountancy and they let me know that I passed all the requirements necessary to get my CPA.

In addition, they want me to send in an additional 200 initial licensing fee (this is on top of the previous 250 licensing fee I paid about two months ago) in order to issue me my offical CPA license number along with a wall certificate. So of course I dutifully wrote another check… no way was I stopping at this point! It’s okay though, I should be able to get reimbursed from work for this additional fee.

Wow the whole process of getting my CPA license has taken just about 4 years!

  • I took and passed all of the exams from May 2005 to January 2006.
  • I transferred to a job that helped me accumulate audit experience in September 2007 and finally fulfilled the experience requirement last September 2008.
  • My company filled out the experience sheet and sent it to my state’s Board of Accountancy earlier this year in February 2009, yes they dawdled so I kept bugging them about it.
  • Afterwards I filled out a bunch of stuff they wanted (fingerprinting, various forms, transcripts) and passed the Ethics exam in May 2009.
  • Finally I hear a response from them June 2009 and sent out the check along with a few more informational forms yesterday.

So I guess we play the waiting game now. Once I get it, I’m gonna take Bae out for dinner, time to celebrate!

Did I mention I got my CPA? : D

Thanks! Nope, I used CPAexcel to help me study. They cover each of the topics very thoroughly and the best part was that it was free! I don’t know if they are still free but they used to be.

Thank you. Don’t worry, I’m sure you will pass. Just make sure to pace yourself and take one section every 2-3 months… that will leave you with enough time for insurance just in case you didn’t pass one section.

Congratulations on passing the CPA exams and getting your license. I waiting on REG, the last section for me; I passed the other 3. I found your blog from livingoffdividends so I have not read much – only the two questions you will be asking yourself daily, which was pretty good! I guess I should go and browse your other posts. ;-)
